I am directed by His Excellency the Governor in Council to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of this date in which You request to be permitted to hire, for Your residence, a house at the rate of One hundred Dollars a month, under the understanding that the rent be paid out of the Treasury of this Colony, pending the pleasure of Her Majesty's Government. In reply I am to inform you, that His Excellency accedes to Your request, on, however, the understanding, that You will be liable to be called on to refund such rent.
